Find answers to common questions about NPS and our services
NPS, or National Pension System, is a government-backed, voluntary, defined contribution retirement savings scheme in India. It allows individuals to build a retirement corpus through systematic savings during their working life, with the goal of providing a regular income after retirement.
A Point of Presence (POP) is an authorized service provider for NPS, like Meghalay Rural Bank. POPs serve as the first point of interaction for NPS subscribers, facilitating services such as registration, contribution collection, and service request processing. They act as an intermediary between subscribers and the NPS architecture.
When a subscriber self contributes to their NPS account they can claim tax deductions on up to Rs.2 Lakhs of their annual income. However, the NPS tax benefits are only restricted to the Tier-1 account type.
